Tesla to open Superchargers at 21 South Korean highway rest areas
特斯拉韩国称，公司已被选中在韩国 21 处高速公路服务区布设超级充电站，属于韩国道路公社 2026 年服务区充电计划的一部分。特斯拉目前在韩国运营 180 座超充站、合计 1,200 多个充电桩；新站点分布于首尔、龙仁、江陵、庆州、安东等方向的高速沿线，部分服务区双向各设一站。站点处于在建或规划阶段，开通日期尚未公布。
Tesla is preparing a major expansion of its Supercharger network in South Korea after Tesla Korea said it was selected to install charging stations at highway rest areas across the country.
In an announcement on X, Tesla Korea said it was selected to bring Superchargers to 21 rest-area locations as part of the Korea Expressway Corporation’s 2026 rest-area charging program.
Tesla Korea says it currently operates 180 Supercharger sites in the country, with over 1,200 stalls between them.
The new locations will be spread across several major expressways, including rest areas near Seoul, Yongin, Gangneung, Gyeongju, and Andong. The count of 21 includes both directions at some rest areas, where separate sites serve each side of the highway.
Tesla says the sites are either under construction or planned, although opening dates have not been announced.
Tesla enters government-backed charging project
The expansion follows a report from Electimes on Tesla’s first successful bid for a Korea Expressway Corporation charging contract earlier this year.
Tesla partnered with GS ChargeBee, one of South Korea’s largest charging operators, to secure a portion of the government’s 2026 highway charging project.
The broader initiative calls for 392 chargers across 91 rest-area locations.
Under the program, operators are responsible for installing and maintaining the equipment under 10-year agreements.
Tesla’s investment comes as its vehicle sales continue to grow in South Korea. The Model Y topped the country’s monthly vehicle sales rankings in both May and July, while Tesla has also become the country’s best-selling imported automotive brand.
